Your timeline
Estimate only. Your doctor's or midwife's dating ultrasound is the most accurate way to date a pregnancy.
How we calculate your dates
Pregnancy is counted from the first day of your last period, so you're already "2 weeks pregnant" when you conceive. We use the same rules doctors and midwives use:
Last period (Naegele's rule)
First day of your period
+ 280 days, adjusted for your cycle length.Due date
We count back
280 days(40 weeks) to find your starting point.Dating ultrasound
The most accurate in the first trimester (±5 days). We use the age on your report.
Conception date
Conception
+ 266 days.IVF embryo transfer
Transfer
+ 263 days(day 3),261(day 5) or260(day 6).
Do your dates disagree? Go with your ultrasound: in the first trimester it's the most reliable method.
Why 7 weeks?
From early pregnancy, tiny fragments of your baby's DNA circulate in your blood. By about 7 weeks there's enough for our lab to look for the Y chromosome: if it's there, it's a boy; if it isn't, it's a girl. Testing too early can give a false "girl" result, which is why we ask you to wait until your 7-week day.

Frequently asked questions
How early can I find out my baby's gender?
With EarlyReveal, from 7 weeks of pregnancy (counted from the first day of your last period). NIPT works from about 10 weeks, and the anatomy ultrasound happens at 20 to 22 weeks.
I'm only 5 or 6 weeks. Can I still order?
Yes! Kits keep for 12 months. Many parents order early so the kit is ready, then collect their sample on their 7-week day.
I don't know the date of my last period. What should I use?
Use your due date or the age on your ultrasound report instead. A rough estimate is fine for now; just make sure you've reached 7 weeks on the day you test.
My cycles are irregular. Is the calculator still accurate?
Period-based dates assume you ovulated about 14 days before your next period. With long or irregular cycles, an ultrasound date is more reliable, so choose that option if you have one.
How accurate is the EarlyReveal test?
99% accurate in a clinical study of 633 pregnancies, with samples collected at 7 weeks or later.
What if the result is wrong?
You're covered by our 100% money-back guarantee: if your baby's sex at birth doesn't match your result, we refund the full cost of the test. Just send us a photo of the birth certificate within a year of your baby's birth.
Is this calculator medical advice?
No. It gives an estimate based on the dates you enter. Your doctor or midwife will confirm your due date, usually with a dating ultrasound.
